Description:   Chinese porcelain stem cup, decorated inside with a diamond-diaper border in underglaze blue and a molded anhua band just below it. Anhua decorations can be incised, as in the Chongzhen dish T9, or molded in relief, like in this case, see penultimate picture. At the bottom, an odd front-facing dragon among clouds, being the oddity the fact that the dragon has five toes on a paw, four toes on two paws and three toes on the last paw. Quite strange. On the outside, there is a nice flaming border around the stem, shaped as ruyis.

Dating:  16th century, Jiajing – Wanli, Ming dynasty.

Size:  14.5 cm high

Provenance:  Antiquarian market

References:  In the last picture, a similar stem cup sold by a Swedish auction house.
