Description
Lobed Imari plate from the early to mid-Edo era, decorated in the Chinese wucai palette (this style is called “nankin” in Japan). In the well a monk kneeling in front of a tree, meditating. Around the rim, eight reserves with floral designs, alternating in underglaze blue and overglaze enamels.
