Description
Description: A small snuff bottle of fine grainy burlwood, incised on the surface with three fish on each side, swimming among water plants (Note: because of the very small size of the bottle, to see the carved fish it is necessary to enlarge the pictures). The specie of the original tree is unknown, but it is a hardwood, probably Rosewood or Amboyna due to the reddish color. The bottle has a concave mouth.

Notes: In the footnotes of the last reference bottle it is said that Chinese literati did like burlwood because its organic pattern is evoking clouds or rippling waters. It should be particularly true for this bottle, as it explains the reason for adding fish and water plants.
