Description
Description: Chinese snuff bottle of pink glass, shaped as a typical Chinese peach, with a slightly curved tip. The tip of the peach has a small filed area that allow the bottle to stand up. The gently fading of the pink color of this bottle creates a delicate hue, a subtle beauty appreciated by the Literati.
Foot/base: Very small flat base
Mark: No marks
Dating: Late 18th or early 19th Century
Material: Glass
Size: 57 mm high
Stopper: Red stone stopper on green stone collar (probably stained?) and bone spoon
Provenance: Antiquarian market
References: No exact references found
Notes: The bottle has a rare, simple shape, as we have not found a similar, so “clean” example, totally missing leaves or sprigs. The high accurate shaping, quality and color of the glass are suggesting that a possible attribution to the Palace glass workshops should not be excluded.
