Description: Chinese snuff bottle of milk-white opaque glass imitating white jade. We have not been able to surely identify what this shape is representing. May be a Chinese ingot?
Foot/base: Flat base.
Mark:
Dating: 19th century.
Material: White opaque glass.
Size: 53 mm high
Stopper: Carnelian agate stopper with metal collar and spoon.
Provenance: Antiquarian market
References: Snuff bottles with this particular shape are mainly made of white jade, they are not very common, and for most of them the ingot shape is not mentioned, as is unusual. The last picture is showing a milk-white glass like our one, at the National Gallery Victoria Museum, Melbourne.
