Description: Chinese glass snuff bottle, painted inside with a prunus branch and an inscription on one side and flowers, rock and butterfly on the other side. The inscription reads “” Old plum, painted in Boshan (which is shandong) in 1967 by Cai shi.”

Notes: Cai Shi (采石) is the studio name used by the artist Wu Jianzhu (吴建柱), who was born in 1945 and who entered the Shandong studio in 1959. Inspired by the Ming dynasty artists and calligraphers Ba Da Shan Ren and Shi Tao, he often depicts landscapes, bamboo and rocks in his works, although he also paints Buddhist and figural scenes.
