Description:   Chinese blue and white ginger jar, decorated with the well-known motif of “Three friends of Winter”, Pine, Plum, Bamboo (Suihan Sanyou). The three plants represent bravery, integrity and rebirth. The jar has its original lid. On this jar, it is interesting the way of painting, resembling that of a scroll.

Dating:  18th century, Kangxi period, Qing dynasty.

Size:  22.3 cm high

Provenance:  Antiquarian market

References:  An identical jar is in the collection of the Princessehof Museum in Leeuwarden, Holland, and is illustrated at page 169 of “10.000 times happiness – Symbols on Chinese porcelain” by Eva Strober. The last picture has been taken at the Museum.
