S23 An agate “Qilin and bat” snuff bottle

Description

Description:  Chinese agate snuff bottle finely carved with a qilin and a bat on one side and lotus and bird motif on the other side. The natural dark shades of the agate have been exploited to enhance the subjects of the carving, which is really of excellent quality.

Foot/base:  Slightly protruding foot and flat base

Mark:  

Dating:  18^th / 19^th Century.

Material:  Agate

Size:  62 mm high

Stopper:  Coral stopper with ivory collar and bone spoon.
