Description
Description: A Chinese white glazed baluster vase, with 6 reserves left blank, on a carved Swastikas background. It is a vase that was meant to be decorated with overglaze polychrome enamels, but for some unknown reasons it has been left blank. We have found three examples of similar vases, all them dated from the late Qianlong / Daoguang period. On all them, the swastikas pattern was gold gilded, as seen in the example shown here as reference. One of them, which we handled, was of superb quality, marked Daoguang and most probably Imperial. The quality of the glaze of this vase is outstanding. Glossy, thick, unctous, and enhanced by the deep carving of the swastika pattern, as seen in the last three pictures of the vase.
Dating: Daoguang period.
Size: 43.4 cm high
Provenance: Antiquarian market
References: See in the last picture a similar vase, which shows what this one should look like, if finished.
