Description
Description: Chinese porcelain kraak plate decorated with a scholar at the border of a mountainous stream. It is an unusual scene, because mountainous landscapes are usually painted as being seen in distance, while here we understand that the scene is a mountainous one only because of the falling stream.
Dating: 17th century, Wanli, Ming dynasty.
Size: 21.4 cm diameter
Provenance: Antiquarian market.
