Description
Description: Chinese Yixing teapot of articulated pear shape, with a well polished surface making it resembling patinated bronze.
Dating: 19th century
Size: 12.2 cm from handle to spout
Provenance: Antiquarian market
References: See in the last picture a very similar teapot in the collection of the Flagstaff House Museum of Tea Ware in Hong Kong, described and dated to the 19th century
Notes: As said in the description of the reference teapot, these mall and well polished teapots were made for the Thai market. They were exported to Thailand since Ming Dynasty. On our teapot too, as the reference one, the spout, the mouth and the highest point of the handle are levelled.
